Male Monarch on Joe Pye Weed

Monarch Butterflies

Monarch butterflies are not only beautiful but also vital pollinators and important indicators of ecosystem health. Each year, they migrate thousands of miles between Canada, the U.S., and Mexico—a journey that depends on the availability of native plants like milkweed. Unfortunately, habitat loss, climate change, and pesticide use have led to a sharp decline in Monarch populations. Helping preserve monarchs means protecting biodiversity, supporting pollination, and maintaining the natural balance in our environment. Every effort to plant native species and reduce chemical use can make a meaningful difference.
